A two-roll mill is a laboratory-scale melt-mixing and compounding instrument used to study the rheological, thermal, and mixing behavior of thermoplastic materials. It works with two independently driven, counter-rotating rolls whose temperature, speed, roll gap, and friction ratio can all be controlled. As material is fed into the nip between the rolls, it forms a rolling bank; the differential roll speeds generate shear and elongational forces that drive melting, plasticization, and dispersion of fillers or pigments. Repeated passage through the nip delivers both dispersive and distributive mixing.
The TS-TRM2 is suited to processing color masterbatch, PVC, plastics, and pigments. Plasticization and dispersion are achieved through electrically heated rolls with mirror-finish chrome plating for uniform temperature distribution across the roller surface. An integrated frequency converter allows roller speed to be adjusted to match the dispersion requirements of different material formulations.
Key Features
-
Reaches a maximum operating temperature of 300 °C, meeting the plasticizing requirements of most rubber compounds.
-
Fitted with a high-precision LED temperature controller and specially designed heating tubes, engineered for optimized heat-density distribution and precision heat-transfer paths within the rollers, ensuring even temperature across the roller surface.
-
Roller gap is adjusted via a precision lead-screw transmission for smooth, flexible operation. Built-in anti-collision limit blocks prevent roller-to-roller contact, and a gap-locking handle maintains positioning accuracy for consistent sheet thickness.
